We Have Started Fundraising to Purchase Farmland

Citizens Dream Relief Initiative’ have been keen on teaching children about environmental and wildlife conservation for time being. The dream to establish a farm land and school will help to bring these children close and teach them this information because both the leaders of the organization and these children will have come together. This will help to impact this conservation education program in its totality. ☺

Farmers in Uganda continue to face challenges of low harvest due to poor farming methods and knowledge about selecting the right seeds, preparing the soil, the right fertilizers to use if need be. Citizen Dream Relief initiative thinks that we shall have our own community run farm land and school which shall always be a source of farming knowledge, food to both parents and children especially the elderly as they are the most affected when it comes to nutrition especially access to vegetables.

Despite the climate being very fair for growing crops, farmers struggle with low harvest due to lack of education about modern sustainable farming methods. Farmers and parents alike need to be educated on how to grow an abundance of food using the natural resources available to them. This involves: producing fertile compost by recycling waste, increasing the soil’s microbial content, improving drainage, and choosing the most efficient, resilient, nutritious crop varieties.

Education is not free in Uganda, and it costs roughly £150/yr to send one child to school. This means that many children are currently going without education due to their parents having no income during these difficult times.

Citizen Dream Relief initiative, with the support of the community members, aims to address these issues by starting a community run farm land and school which shall be a source of farming knowledge and food to all parents, children and elderly.

We already have many community members on board with the idea, and we have 2 acres of ex-farmland identified which will cost £3,700 to buy. We have a lawyer on board offering his services for free, and the initial setup labour will be contributed by community members.

The remaining £2,600 will be used to purchase things such as a fence, composting materials, tools, seeds and irrigation equipment.

All funds raised will be collected by Christopher Thompson in UK and then sent to William Bwambale in Uganda. We will coordinate the spending with a board of community members, which will be made fully transparent on our Facebook page.
